About The Hebmüller Registry

So what is The Hebmüller Registry? The Registry is not a name or a logo, nor a club, but four huge volumes of information, photos and documents all relating to the VW 2 seater convertible. The Web site exists to increase awareness of the Registry and provide an easy point of contact for Hebmüller enthusiasts world-wide.

The original Hebmüller Registry was first started in California by Robert Gilmore in about 1972 and it was Robert who designed the Registry's famous logo for it's first ever newsletter in the mid-70's.

Hebmuller Registry Founder Bob Gilmore

Unexpectedly in November 2001 I received a large parcel which was to be the entire contents of the Registry. Robert was well aware of my enthusiasm and passion for the Hebmüller Volkswagen and had decided I should be next to take over.

It has always been difficult for The Registry to deliver complete lists of cars and addresses, but it will continue to register details of surviving vehicles and associated information. However, I intend to try and keep the Hebmüller hobby alive by being as active as possible within the vintage VW world, just as Robert did before me.
This Web site has been the product of Rob Amos, a British Web site designer and Hebmüller enthusiast who privately designed the site and offered it to The Registry as an additional means of communication. By definition The Registry is only a collection of other peoples stories, photos and information and I hope you will continue to contribute to the hobby.
